Madison City - WI issued the following announcement on April 4.
The Common Council is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Karen Kapusta-Pofahl as the Common Council Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff manages the Council Office, ensuring optimal support for the twenty city alders as they carry out their responsibilities as elected officials, and serves as liaison between the Common Council and the Mayor's Office, City staff, and general public. Prior to accepting this role, Dr. Kapusta-Pofahl worked as the Legislative Analyst in the Common Council Office, where she conducted policy research and carried out special projects.
"I have seen Dr. Kapusta-Pofahl's hard work in action and I am impressed by her dedication to the city and strong work ethic. She will be a great addition to the team," said Council President Abbas.
Dr. Kapusta-Pofahl holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Kansas, a PhD in anthropology from the University of Minnesota, a master's degree in women’s studies from Texas Woman’s University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and women’s studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Kapusta-Pofahl’s first day as Chief of Staff is April 4th. A formal resolution will be introduced at the Common Council on April 19th for her appointment.
