Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway is saluting five employees recently given Team City Awards, marveling the group has been instrumental in transforming the direction of the city.
“Today I was honored to present the October #TeamCity awards to 5 outstanding @CityofMadison employees,” Conway posted on Twitter. “We also honored all of our veteran employees with 30-35 years of service. I’m inspired by and grateful to work alongside each of them.”
Created in early 2020, the latest Team City award winners were Sara Carrizal, Renee Callaway, Melinda Dessert, Corey King and Sherri Amos in categories including administration, community service and support, public health and safety, public works and land use and the Mayor’s choice.
This year’s award ceremony was the first live celebration since the program was created, with the winners being chosen from a massive pool of candidates, all of whom were nominated by their peers and coworkers for their dedication and care for the city and the community.
Rhodes Conway also took the time to recognize the 101 city workers who have stood the test of time, working at least three decades for the city across departments that included assessing, fire, engineering, Monona Terrace, library, police, water and streets.
“Special thanks to all of them for their long and productive careers in public service, reaching a milestone that only a tiny fraction of City employees will ever achieve,” Rhodes Conway added in a press release. “That takes dedication and sticking it out through all the ups and downs I’m sure they’ve witnessed over the years in their agencies--along with plenty of changes in management, personnel and technology.”
