There will be no trash, recycling, brush, or large item collection on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The Streets Division drop-off sites will also be closed.

Trash & Recycling Collection

Madison residents who normally have their refuse and recycling collected on Tuesday should instead place their carts to the curb for collection by 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Refuse and recycling pickup for residents that have a regularly scheduled Wednesday collection day will also occur on July 5 as scheduled.

Collection of trash and recyclables on Monday, July 3, 2023 will occur as scheduled on Monday.

If you have questions about when to set out your collection carts, and which ones you should have out, please download a copy of the collection schedule for your home from our website www.cityofmadison.com/CollectionSchedule.

Large Item Work Orders

If you have scheduled a large item set-out date of Sunday, July 2, 2023 please be sure you set the item out on this day or you may miss your collection opportunity.

Collections for large item work orders will get underway on Monday, July 3. Crews will not be out on Tuesday, July 4 for the holiday. Collection will then resume on Wednesday, July 5.

Drop-off Sites

The drop-off sites will be open for their normal posted hours for Monday, July 3, 2023.

They will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

The drop-off sites at 4602 Sycamore Avenue and 402 South Point Rd will remain closed on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. These two sites are normally closed on Wednesdays. They will reopen for their posted hours on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

The drop-off site at 121 E. Olin Avenue will be open on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 3:00pm. The site at 121 E. Olin Avenue is not available for drop-off before 3:00pm. Even if you drive by earlier in the day and see the gate open – the site is not open for dropping off items before 3:00pm. During the day, the Olin Avenue facility is used to support other Streets Division services and there is a significant amount of heavy vehicle traffic that makes it unsafe to use the drop-off area at those times.

More information about our drop-off sites can be found on the drop-off webpage, www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites.
