Madison Parks and Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) are celebrating National Park and Recreation Month - Where Community Grows throughout July and you’re invited! Together, we are celebrating park and recreation professionals' vital role in bringing people together in Madison.
Since 1985, the nation has celebrated July as Park and Recreation Month. The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) initiative aims to raise awareness of the essential services park and recreation professionals provide to communities across the United States. Park and recreation professionals make a positive impact on our community members every single day. The services provided are vital for our community — from protecting open spaces and natural resources to helping fight obesity and providing activities and resources for everyone.
According to NRPA’s 2022 Engagement With Parks Report, 275 million people in the U.S. visited a local park or recreation facility at least once in the past year. Did you? Let’s come together this year and show the world just how much parks and recreation mean to Madison. We encourage everyone who supports parks and recreation to share on social media how it has positively impacted their quality of life using #WhereCommunityGrows and #MadisonWI
Make plans to visit a park and recreation event such as volunteer-led nature walks, learning series workshops, Adaptive Family Swim night, movies, live entertainment, volunteer work days, and mobile art and fitness activities!
