Due to expected heavy snowfall and strong blowing snow conditions starting early Friday morning and continuing through Saturday, all non-essential, in-person City services will be suspended on Friday January 12 through Saturday January 13, resuming Sunday January 14, 2024. Emergency services, including the Madison Police and Fire Departments will not be affected by the closure. Madison Metro plans to operate regularly scheduled service; riders should expect delays due to the weather. Remote and online services such as online permitting will continue to be offered during this time and all services and departments will be accessible via phone and/or email. City facilities will not be open to the public for in-person service.
The Madison Streets Division will perform snow plowing and sand/salting operations. Madison Police, Fire and Streets Division will work closely with Dane County Emergency Management to continue monitoring conditions throughout the weather event.
We expect that in-person operations at Libraries with Sunday hours will resume on Sunday January 14, 2024 (though residents should check Library webpages) and that City offices will reopen for in-person service Tuesday (Monday is Martin Luther King Junior holiday). We will continue to monitor the weather for Sunday and will provide you with notice should conditions warrant additional closures.
