Catholic Vote President: ‘The pro-life movement must stay vigilant and not let up in its fight to protect the rights of unborn children’

Catholic Vote President Brian Burch commented on President Biden’s promise in his State of the Union address to reinstate Roe v. Wade if he was reelected. He criticized Biden’s use of the promise for his campaign.

"Joe Biden alerted all those who defend the life of the unborn that he will make supporting abortion a key plank in his reelection campaign,” Burch said. “The pro-life movement must stay vigilant and not let up in its fight to protect the rights of unborn children."

In the State of the Union address on March 7, Biden said, “If Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I promise you: I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again.”

Biden blasted his general election opponent former president Donald Trump for appointing justices, who were in attendance at the speech, for successfully overturning the 1973 case.

The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June of 2022. The impact from this change of federal law varied across the country as each state's abortion laws are still in play within their state lines.

Madison, Wisconsin-based Catholic Vote is an advocacy organization that wants to “inspire every Catholic in America to live out the truths of our faith in public life,” according to the group’s website. Founded in 2008, its president is Brian Burch.
