Catholic Vote President Brian Burch commented on the leaked messages from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health which showed a pattern of patients suffering from treatments they did not fully understand before undergoing.
"The medical standards of care for those with gender dysphoria are being driven by radical ideologies and not science. The WPATH documents show many examples of dishonestly by medical professionals and lasting damage being inflicted on patients."
Robert Clarke in National Review delves further into the leaked documents of the international pro-transgender group World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Over 100 pages were given to Michael Shellenberger by one or more whistleblower.
The documents reveal that the core medical principle of "informed consent" when providing treatment is disregarded. One child psychologist admits that “[It is] out of their developmental range to understand the extent to which some of these medical interventions are impacting them." Often the treatments have life-altering consequences.
National Review's Robert Clarke writes that "there is much more in the files, which are available for anyone to read," and Clarke argues that WPATH and its contributors should no longer be considered a credible source for information. Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom had previously abandoned the WPATH "standards." "[V]ulnerable children and adults who deserved better were led to irreversible interventions," Clarke wrote, and "those who spoke out were censored."
