MADISON, WI – Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and the Madison Public Library Board have announced the appointment of Tana Elias as the new Director of Madison Public Library. Elias, currently serving as the Digital Services and Marketing Manager at the library, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role.
Alyssa Kenney, the Board President, expressed confidence in Elias, stating, "Tana Elias has been a dedicated member of the library team for over twenty years, and her deep understanding of our community and strong commitment to our vision and the essential role Madison Public Libraries serve in our community make her the perfect choice to lead us forward."
Mayor Rhodes-Conway also shared her enthusiasm for Elias taking on the position, saying, “I look forward to working with Tana in this new role.”
Elias, who holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from UW-Madison, has a track record of leading rebranding and strategic planning efforts, managing staff and community engagement initiatives, and implementing innovative services and programs during her 30-year tenure at Madison Public Library. She expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am deeply honored to be chosen as the next director of Madison Public Library."
The transition of leadership is set to take place on May 12, 2024, pending formal approval by the Library Board and Common Council. In the interim, Krissy Wick is serving as the Interim Library Director.
