Capitol Underground will commence phase 2 of the Hammersley Rd project from Gilbert Rd to the W Beltline Frontage Rd on Monday, April 1st at 7:00 am. The project includes the replacement of underground utilities, reconstruction of the roadway, and the construction of a multi-use path. Hammersley Rd will be closed to thru traffic at the project limits, with local access for residents maintained. The contractor will first focus on the section of Hammersley Rd between Reetz and the W Beltline Frontage Rd, aiming to complete it by the end of June to allow for reopening. The remaining project area west of Reetz Rd is scheduled for completion by the end of October.
The closure will impact the Southwest Path crossing in the area, with detour signs guiding path users to Reetz Rd, Freeport Rd, and the Verona Frontage Rd to circumvent the construction. Additionally, Metro buses will be rerouted from this section of Hammersley Rd.
