The Streets Division of Madison has announced the expansion of drop-off site hours starting on April 1, 2024. According to the division, the drop-off sites at 402 South Point Road and 4602 Sycamore Avenue will begin their extended summer hours. As stated by the division, "The drop-off sites at 402 South Point Road and 4602 Sycamore Avenue will be open" on specific days and times from April 1 until December 6, 2024.
In addition to the extended hours at the South Point Road and Sycamore Avenue locations, the special drop-off site at 121 East Olin Avenue will also have adjusted hours starting on April 1, 2024, opening at 3:00pm. The division specified, "The drop-off site at 121 E. Olin Avenue will be open" on different days and times until December 1, 2024.
Regarding changes in large item fees for 2024, the Streets Division explained the difference in fees for those paying the Resource Recovery Special Charge and those who do not. According to the division, "If you pay the Resource Recovery Special Charge on your monthly Municipal Services bill, this means you will not need to pay for fees for certain large items." However, for those not paying the charge, fees will still apply for specific items brought to drop-off sites or scheduled for curbside collection.
For individuals required to pay a fee for items like microwaves, it is important to note that fee stickers cannot be purchased at drop-off sites. The division emphasized the need to purchase recycling fee stickers in advance from designated locations or online.
To provide convenience for residents, the division outlined various methods for purchasing recycling fee stickers, including online, in person at Streets Division offices, over the phone, or by mailing a check to the City of Madison Streets Division.
For more detailed information on drop-off site rules, restrictions, and accepted materials, the Streets Division directed individuals to visit their drop-off sites website.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the changes in drop-off site hours and fee policies to ensure a smooth and efficient disposal process.
