President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit the Madison College Truax campus on Monday, April 8, along with select community guests. The event, set to take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will have minimal disruption to classes, students, faculty, and staff, as stated by the college administration.
According to the college's announcement, various adjustments will be made to streets, bus routes, and other transportation services during the event. Students, faculty, staff, and community members accessing services at the Truax campus are advised to allow extra travel time on Monday.
The campus will experience some restrictions and closures to accommodate the presidential visit. Wright Street, located between the main Truax building and the Health Sciences building, will be closed to vehicle traffic. Access to certain parking lots and buildings will also be limited during the event.
In preparation for the visit, Madison College has provided guidelines for travel and access to campus facilities. Shuttle services between Truax and Goodman South will continue on their normal schedule, with minor adjustments to drop-off and pick-up locations. Additionally, city bus services will have altered drop-off and pick-up points in the vicinity of Anderson Street and Wright Street.
The Madison College Fitness Center and H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium will be closed on the day of the event. To ensure a smooth experience for all on campus, individuals are advised to be patient, follow traffic regulations, and be mindful of increased pedestrian activity around the area.
In light of the upcoming visit, Madison College emphasizes that they are not the primary point of contact for the event and will not respond to media or press inquiries. Updates regarding the impact of the event on campus services will be posted on the college's news page.
As the community prepares for President Biden's visit to the Madison College Truax campus, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to adhere to the outlined guidelines and make necessary arrangements for their travel and access on Monday.
