Urban Forestry's spring planting season has kicked off with the ambitious goal of planting 1,374 trees from 27 different species along City of Madison streets. The variety of species has been carefully chosen by the City's trained arborists to create a diverse and resilient urban canopy that will benefit the community at large.

The spring planting initiative is set to take place across various areas of the city, including the isthmus, with operations expected to continue throughout the month. Following the conclusion of the spring planting season, Urban Forestry crews will shift their focus to pruning and other tree care activities, with plans for a second round of planting in the fall.

Residents who have received a tree in the right of way space in front of their homes are urged to adhere to the new tree care guidelines provided on the City of Madison Urban Forestry website. It is also encouraged for residents to assist in keeping the young trees watered to support their healthy growth.
