In preparation for the upcoming Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Square, scheduled to kick off this Saturday, April 13, several street closures have been announced. According to the information released, the closures aim to enhance pedestrian safety in areas with significant foot traffic.

The affected blocks, which will be closed to motor vehicle traffic from approximately 8:00 am to 2:00 pm each Saturday, include West Mifflin Street from Wisconsin Avenue to State Street, State Street from West Dayton Street to West Mifflin Street, and North Carroll Street from State Street to West Washington Avenue.

A spokesperson for the event stated, "The reason for these closures is to provide safety to pedestrians in the areas with the highest amount of pedestrian activity." Additionally, it was confirmed that "These closures will continue for the entirety of the 2024 season."

While these specific streets will be closed off, it is essential to note that the remaining streets on the Capitol Square will remain open to traffic. For individuals utilizing public transportation, Metro Transit will have bus route detours in place to accommodate the street closures.

To stay updated on any changes or additional information regarding the street closures and market operations, interested parties can visit the official website for Metro Transit for detour details.

The organizers have emphasized the importance of these measures in ensuring the safety and convenience of all visitors and vendors participating in the Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Square throughout the 2024 season.
