Urban Forestry's spring planting season kicked off on Monday, April 8, 2024, with a plan to plant 1,682 trees from 27 different species along City of Madison streets this spring. According to the City's trained arborists, the variety of species was carefully selected to ensure a diverse and resilient canopy that can thrive in the urban landscape, benefiting the community.

Residents who have received trees in the right of way space in front of their homes are encouraged to follow the new tree care advice provided on the City of Madison Urban Forestry website. They are also urged to help keep the young trees watered to promote their healthy growth.

Regarding inquiries about Urban Forestry operations, individuals are directed to visit www.cityofmadison.com/Forestry or contact the Urban Forestry office at 608-266-4816.

A correction was issued concerning the number of trees to be planted this spring. The initial release incorrectly stated that 1,374 trees would be planted, but due to an administrative error, the actual number is 1,682. The Urban Forestry team apologizes for the mistake and assures the community of their commitment to the tree planting initiative.
