The Code CS Team recently concluded their activities for the 2023-2024 season with a celebratory event, bidding farewell to long-time staff leader Lori Hunt.

The season saw the participation of approximately 30 5th-8th graders and 20 high school facilitators. The team engaged in various educational activities, including learning about significant figures in history, exploring Python Programming, and delving into concepts like algorithms and problem-solving.

Guest speakers, such as Riti Jindal and Damini Dhawal, shared insights about their careers in computer science, with one presentation even featuring a robot for student interaction. Additionally, students had the opportunity to connect with a former alumnus who is now pursuing higher education at UW-Madison.

The season culminated in a final meeting in March, where an award ceremony took place. Family members were invited to join the festivities, which included playing games created by the students throughout the season.

The conclusion of the season also marked a bittersweet moment as the team bid farewell to Lori Hunt, a dedicated Computer Science Teacher and Makerspace Coordinator at Middleton High School. Lori's impact extended beyond the classroom, as she led various clubs and student organizations while playing a crucial role in the development of the MHS Makerspace.

In light of Lori's retirement, the team expressed their gratitude, saying, "While we will undoubtedly miss Lori, we wish her the best of luck in her retirement and thank her for her many years of service to our District."
