Middleton High School's recent production of "Beauty and the Beast" captivated audiences with its four performances, culminating in a sold-out closing night, a feat not achieved since 2016. The event included a Tea Party where attendees met characters like Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Lumière, and Princess Belle during a special storytime.
The Madison Arts for All Choir joined the production for a sing-along and meet-and-greet after the final performance. ASL interpreters were part of the closing show to ensure accessibility. Over 90 students participated in various roles from acting to working behind the scenes, making it one of the largest productions in Middleton High School's history.
Technical Director Jonathan Hagberg remarked, "This is the largest and most involved show Middleton has done in years. Disney calls Beauty and the Beast the hardest show that they have ever written, and really, it's a type of show that most theatre students never get the chance to engage with. Putting this on took an immense amount of sacrifice and work, but we are so proud of our students, and we think that the memories and the skills they developed while putting on this show will last a lifetime."
The school's theatre department looks forward to their next production, Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," scheduled for February.
