A late-night event at Varsity Hall in Union South celebrated the hard work and dedication of the 2nd- and 3rd-shift employees at UW–Madison. The event, part of the year-long celebration of UW’s 175th anniversary, brought together essential employees who ensure the smooth operation of the campus.

Rob Cramer, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, addressed the crowd, with Valentina Marulanda providing translation into Spanish. Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin also spoke, addressing the employees in both English and Spanish, acknowledging their vital contributions.

Angela Miller, assistant vice provost for strategic equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging administration, was seen actively participating by scooping ice cream for the employees. Cindy Torstveit, associate vice chancellor for Facilities Planning & Management, warmly greeted attendees as they checked in. Sebastian Kelnhofer-Maldonado, an outreach & sourcing specialist, engaged participants in conversations during the event.

The occasion was marked by camaraderie as guests enjoyed a dinner buffet, socialized with colleagues, and captured moments with Bucky, the university's mascot. The event aimed to recognize the often unseen efforts of these employees who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure the smooth functioning of operations at the university.

The gathering highlighted the importance of appreciating all members of the campus community, including those who work during unconventional hours to maintain the campus’s operations seamlessly.
