Madison College recently hosted a diversity vendor marketplace event at the Truax campus, showcasing products from over 20 local businesses. The event aimed to promote diversity and inclusion by featuring items from minority, women, disabled, veteran, and LGBT+ owned businesses in the Madison College Bookstore.

Kim Henderson, the auxiliary services director at Madison College, expressed the institution's commitment to enhancing diversity in the bookstore. Henderson stated, "We hope to itemize products for sale in the bookstore as we continue to build partnerships with these vendors. This marketplace event will help us improve awareness of diversity and inclusion in the bookstore, promote diverse products to consumers, and bring fresh ideas that will appeal to other demographics."

The collaboration with various chambers of commerce, including the Black Chamber of Commerce, the Latino Chamber of Commerce, the Hmong Chamber of Commerce, and the Center for Black Women, highlights Madison College's dedication to supporting a wide range of businesses within the community.

The goal of the initiative is to expand the bookstore's product lines and attract new customers. The Madison College Bookstore, known for selling branded apparel, accessories, gift items, and student supplies, is open to the public, with proceeds benefiting students and the college community.

The successful diversity vendor marketplace event not only provided shoppers with a unique shopping experience but also paved the way for a more inclusive and diverse range of products at the Madison College Bookstore.
