Metro Transit is hosting a series of public meetings to discuss the proposed North/South Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, which is set to be the second bus rapid transit route in the Madison area. The route will span from Madison’s Northside, through the downtown area, extending into South Madison, and concluding in Fitchburg.
The public is encouraged to participate in the upcoming information sessions to offer feedback and to review any changes to station locations and routing based on the input received thus far.
The essence of the BRT system was explained as, "BRT is a frequent, faster, and more reliable bus system that uses larger buses to transport more riders. BRT’s features include frequent all-day service and direct routes with fewer stops. It utilizes special traffic signals to help buses get through intersections faster, dedicated bus lanes, and stations with off-board fare payment kiosks."
The meetings will take place both virtually and in person on different dates and locations. The in-person meetings will be held at the Urban League on South Park St., Warner Park Community Center on Northport Dr., and MainStay Suites in Fitchburg on specific dates in April.
