City staff have revealed proposed changes to the DRAFT West Area Plan and have announced additional public meetings as part of the ongoing planning process. The West Area Plan, like other City plans, is a long-term strategy aimed at guiding transformations over decades. It focuses on shaping the physical aspects of the community and aligns with the Comprehensive Plan's seven elements.

Guided by adopted City policies and community feedback, the West Area Plan aims to address various issues, including housing shortages, proximity to transit and businesses, neighborhood connectivity, and access to parks. The input from stakeholders plays a crucial role in shaping the plan, ensuring that it reflects the values and priorities of the community.

During Phase 3 of the process, which commenced in August 2023, a significant amount of feedback was received from diverse stakeholders through public meetings, events, emails, and direct comments on the Public Review DRAFT document. The feedback, categorized by topic and including specific stakeholder comments, is now available for review. Similar feedback summaries are also accessible for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the planning process.

In summary, the City staff are actively engaging with the community to gather input and refine the West Area Plan, with the aim of creating a comprehensive and inclusive strategy for the future development of the area.
