Starting from Monday, May 13, Madison Gas and Electric (MG&E) will initiate the replacement of their duct bank package on E. Doty Street. This is a preparatory step for the continuation of the Doty Street & Wilson Street reconstruction project. During this period, E. Doty Street will be reduced to one travel lane until August 16. Afterward, the closed lane will reopen and that portion of E. Doty street will be temporarily converted to two-way traffic lanes while the 100 Block of E. Wilson Street is fully closed to through traffic for reconstruction.

The timeline for the reconstruction segment closure is as follows:

E. Doty Street, from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to King Street:

- From May 27 to August 16: Limited to one eastbound travel lane

- From August 16 to November 8: Limited to two eastbound travel lanes and one westbound travel lane

Wilson Street, from South Carroll Street to South Franklin Street:

- The 100 Block of E. Wilson Street:

- From May 27 to August 16: Two westbound travel lanes (subject to change depending on private redevelopment project)

- From August 16 to November 8: Closed to through traffic

- The remainder of the Wilson Street segment will be limited to one lane during construction.

The proposed work includes replacement of asphalt pavement and road base, sanitary sewer main and laterals, storm sewer, installation of new curb and gutter, as well as replacement of sidewalk and drive aprons as needed. This project follows up on the Wilson Street and Broom Street project completed in 2023.
