Dane County residents have made a significant environmental impact by logging 4,280 car-free and car-light trips in April as part of the RoundTrip Spring Roll Challenge. This initiative led to the avoidance of over 7.1 tons of carbon dioxide emissions during Earth Month, an equivalent to recycling a garbage truck's worth of waste or charging more than a million smartphones.

Participants recorded their journeys on RoundTrip’s online platform, a tool designed to facilitate connection with transportation options and track the impact of non-drive-alone trips. RoundTrip is an initiative by the Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) that promotes sustainable transportation alternatives such as public transit, biking, carpooling, vanpooling, and walking among people living and working in Dane County.

In April, RoundTrip organized the Spring Roll Challenge to stimulate non-drive-alone trips and heighten awareness about the environmental consequences of our daily transportation decisions.
