The City of Madison is collaborating with various community stakeholders to assist prospective homeowners in obtaining the necessary resources for their journey. The initiative aims to guide first-time buyers through the process and provide answers to their queries from reliable sources.
Registration has commenced for the Madison Homeownership Resources Fair, scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2024. The event will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Urban League of Greater Madison’s Black Business Hub located at 2532 S. Park Street in Madison.
The fair is being organized in partnership with Take Root Wisconsin and several other local organizations. The event will feature numerous resource workshops, including:
- Basic home readiness and demystifying the home-buying process
- Budget, credit, and debt management
- Home financing and down payment assistance
- A panel on alternative pathways to homeownership
- Basic household plumbing maintenance
- Understanding property taxes, tax benefits, and credits
- Post-purchase financing options (refinancing, removing PMI, etc.)
- A panel on maintenance and repair programs
