The art of metal fabrication and welding, which shapes our world by fusing metals with skill and dedication, was celebrated at Madison College-Fort Atkinson's annual Metal Mania event. The college, boasting a newly renovated welding and metal fabrication space, hosted the event on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Metal Mania highlighted the Madison College-Fort Atkinson Metal Fabrication with Welding Bolt-On program, an accelerated course that allows students to earn two degrees in one year. This year's event featured a six-team Metal Fabrication and Welding competition themed around Wisconsin Farms. The competing teams included students from Fort Atkinson, Johnson Creek, and Marshall School Districts, Madison College students, and community members.
Attendees were treated to laser, welding, and blacksmith demonstrations throughout the day. Other attractions included games for all ages, food stalls, and the chance to meet Madison College mascot Wolfie.
The second annual Metal Mania attracted hundreds of attendees including Madison College Fort Atkinson students, alumni, and community members. Programming experts were on hand to showcase Madison College Fort Atkinson’s Metal Fabrication offerings along with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) programs.
"We express our sincere appreciation to the East region community and sponsors for their generous support of this event and our students. This occasion presents a wonderful chance for the community to come together and actively participate with the campus, students, and fellow community members," said Chelsey Bauer, Campus Manager of Fort Atkinson and Watertown.
