Madison College’s Fort Atkinson campus, with its newly renovated welding and metal fabrication space, hosted the annual Metal Mania on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event highlighted the Fort Atkinson Metal Fabrication with Welding Bolt-On program where students earn two degrees in one year.
Metal Mania featured a six-team Metal Fabrication and Welding competition. This year, the competition theme revolved around Wisconsin Farms, promising sculptures from talented competitors. Among the competing teams were students from the Fort Atkinson, Johnson Creek, and Marshall School Districts, Madison College students, and community members.
Attendees had the opportunity to watch laser, welding, and blacksmith demonstrations throughout the day. There was something for everyone to enjoy, including meeting Madison College mascot Wolfie, engaging in games for all ages, and savoring food.
The second annual Metal Mania attracted hundreds of attendees including Madison College Fort Atkinson students, alumni, and community members. The event included programming experts highlighting Madison College Fort Atkinson’s Metal Fabrication, LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), and CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) offerings.
“We express our sincere appreciation to the East region community and sponsors for their generous support of this event and our students. This occasion presents a wonderful chance for the community to come together and actively participate with the campus, students, and fellow community members,” said Chelsey Bauer, Campus Manager of Fort Atkinson and Watertown.
