Residents and visitors of Madison will have the opportunity to enjoy permit-free days in City of Madison and Dane County parks on Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, 2024. During this weekend, no permits will be required for disc golf, dog park access, or lake access.
Typically, a daily or annual permit is necessary to play at a City of Madison disc golf course. However, on June 1 and 2, permits will not be required at Elver Park (1250 McKenna Blvd.) and Hiestand (4302 Milwaukee St.).
For more information about the courses, see Disc Golf Courses.
Similarly, a daily or annual Dog Permit is usually needed for any dog visiting a park—whether on-leash where allowed or in an off-leash area. On June 1 and 2, these permits will not be required. All dogs must still be licensed and adhere to all dog park rules. Off-leash dog parks available include:
- Demetral (2297 Commercial Ave.)
- North Star (439 Milky Way)
- McCormick (702 N. McCormick Ave.)
- Odana School (678 S. Segoe Rd.)
- Quann (1802 Quann-Olin Pkwy.)
- Sycamore (4517 Sycamore Ave.)
- Walnut Grove (202 N. Westfield Rd.)
- Warner (2301 Sheridan Dr.)
For more information about these parks, see Off-Leash Dog Parks.
Additionally, a daily or annual Lake Access Permit is generally required for the use of designated boat launches. This requirement will be waived on June 1 and 2 at the following locations:
- Law Park (410 S. Blair St.)
- Olbrich Park (3401 Atwood Ave.)
- Olin Park (1156 Olin-Turville Ct.)
- Marshall Park (2101 Allen Blvd.)
- Spring Harbor Park (5218 Lake Mendota Dr.)
- Tenney Park (1601 Sherman Ave.)
- Warner Park (1201 Woodward Dr.)
For more information about these locations, see Boat Launch Parks.
This initiative encourages residents and visitors to make the most of this special weekend by enjoying Madison Parks and Dane County Parks without the usual permit requirements.
