The July 11 Restorative Justice Summit at Madison College will gather young people and youth-serving professionals to collaborate in advancing equitable, evidence-based restorative justice and peacemaking practices to transform youth services and programs in Wisconsin communities. This year’s summit theme is Empowering Voices: Innovative and Inclusive Restorative Justice.
The event will feature keynote speaker Everett Mitchell, the presiding judge of the Dane County Circuit Court Juvenile Division. The Restorative Justice Summit is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension Community Youth Development Program and the Wisconsin Teen Court Association.
Madison College employees will speak on the transformative potential of restorative justice in educational settings. Adult Basic Education Instructor Stephanie Beckman, Engagement Specialist Rhoda McKinney, and School of Academic Advancement Manager Jodie Pope will lead the panel.
Madison College’s Gateway to College Program integrates restorative justice principles tailored for students facing challenges in the traditional high school system.
