The Partisan Primary is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Voters can access sample ballots specific to their address at MyVote.wi.gov.
In the Partisan Primary, each political party selects its candidates for the November election. Voters may choose candidates from only one political party. Importantly, voter registration is not linked to any political party, and ballots remain secret.
Voters must select a party at the top of their ballot and choose individual candidates within that party. Only votes for candidates in the selected party will be counted. If voters mistakenly select candidates from multiple parties, those selections will be ignored by the tabulator.
If a voter does not mark a party preference and votes across multiple parties, their entire ballot will be invalidated.
"It is amazingly easy to vote absentee in Madison," said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. "You can request an absentee ballot and mail it back or drop it off. There are also a number of libraries where you are able to vote."
The City Clerk’s Office aims to ensure that every eligible voter can cast a ballot and have it counted.
