There will be no trash, recycling, brush, or large item collection on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The Streets Division drop-off sites and offices will also be closed.
Madison residents who normally have their refuse and recycling collected on Thursday should instead place their carts to the curb for collection by 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024. Refuse and recycling pickup for residents that have a regularly scheduled Friday collection day will also occur on July 5 as scheduled.
Residents can download a copy of the trash and recycling collection schedule for their homes at www.cityofmadison.com/CollectionSchedule.
For large item work orders, if you have scheduled a large item set-out for Sunday, June 30, 2024 make sure you have your scheduled items out on this date. Collection occurs sometime during the normal work week following the set-out Sunday. This is standard Streets Division operations.
Large item collection will occur as normal from July 1 to July 3 but will pause for the July 4 holiday. If your scheduled large item pickup has not occurred by the holiday, please keep the scheduled item or items out for collection. Crews will resume large item pickup of scheduled items on Friday, July 5, 2024 following the holiday.
Streets Division drop-off sites will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The Sycamore and South Point sites will reopen for their posted hours on Friday, July 5, 2024. The Olin Avenue site will be closed on Friday, July 5 as it is routinely closed on Fridays.
Details on drop-off site hours, rules, and materials accepted can be found on the drop-off webpage at www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites.
