Wednesday, July 24, marks the final day for voters to register online or by mail ahead of the August 13 Partisan Primary.
“You can still register to vote, but this is the last day to do so online or by mail,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “Don’t forget, if you need assistance, your professional staff at the City Clerk’s office can help.”
Voter registration remains available at all absentee voting sites when open through the Friday before Election Day. Additionally, voters may register at the polls on Election Day.
The Madison City Clerk’s Office urges voters to verify their registration status at https://MyVote.wi.gov. Those who have moved, even within the same building, must update their voter registration. It is important to note that updating an address with the post office or DMV does not update voter registration records.
Proof of address is required for voter registration and can be provided in electronic form through various documents:
- Utility bill issued in the last 90 days (water, gas, electric, phone, cable, or internet)
- Bank statement (bank, credit union, credit card, mortgage)
- Current and valid Wisconsin driver license/ID
- Government document (federal, state, county, municipal, tribal, UW-Madison College or public school)
- Paycheck
- Residential lease effective on day of registration (cannot be used if registering by mail)
- Certified housing list from UW-Madison or Edgewood College (available at absentee voting sites and polls), with college ID
- Affidavit from a social service agency providing services to the homeless
- Contract or intake document from a nursing home or residential care facility
The City Clerk’s Office aims to ensure every eligible voter can cast a ballot and have it counted.
