The Streets Division has introduced Wisconsin's first two electric trash collection trucks and is seeking public input to name the vehicles. The City, in collaboration with Wisconsin Clean Cities, will gather name suggestions from residents and then conduct an election to finalize the names.

Residents are encouraged to email their suggestions to dropoff@cityofmadison.com by 4:00 PM on October 1, 2024. Participants can propose names for one or both trucks and should specify if a name is intended for a particular vehicle.

"We are looking for unique, playful, and fun names that will represent Madison’s character, wit, and charm," said a city spokesperson. "Please keep your suggestions family-friendly and light. Puns are, of course, encouraged."

The City emphasized that "Trashy McTrashface" has already been suggested and need not be submitted again.

Following the submission period, the City will select finalists for each truck. The election will take place on the Wisconsin Clean Cities website at a date yet to be determined after October 1, 2024. This date will depend on how long it takes to finalize the list of candidate names.

Further details about the trucks and the election process can be found on the Streets Division’s website.
