FOIA Request Sent to City of Monona Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Monona Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

In a recent effort to uphold transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at Madison Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Monona. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and it seeks access to a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As an organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage, we believe that access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the benefit of the public.

We have requested these records preferably in electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a positive response from the City of Monona as we continue our work in serving the public interest by shedding light on local governmental affairs.
