The Chazen Museum of Art is offering a range of gift options for art enthusiasts this holiday season. The museum's café features newly designed merchandise, books, prints, and classic items that support the museum’s mission with every purchase.
Jenaille Northey, the retail coordinator at the Chazen, emphasized the café's focus on products inspired by or featuring works from the museum's collection. “We try to support small artists and makers. And we hope their work makes you want to learn more about the art at the Chazen, or maybe even create something of your own,” Northey stated.
Among popular items are Chazen tote bags and The Hello! Loom—a pocket-sized weaving kit by UW–Madison art faculty member Marianne Fairbanks. “These little items are quite popular stocking-stuffers,” Northey mentioned.
The café also offers high-quality giclée prints and exhibition catalogs from various collections. Reproductions include paintings like Pink Flutter by Sam Gilliam and Untitled by Mark Rothko. These prints are available in different sizes and formats on 1000Museums.Com.
Exhibition catalogs available for purchase feature titles such as "Petah Coyne: How Much a Heart Can Hold" and "Insistent Presence: Contemporary African Art from the Chazen Collection." Additionally, special-collections books like "The Terese and Alvin S. Lane Collection: Twentieth-century Sculpture" are part of their offerings.
For those interested in contemporary art with an edge, Guerilla Girls merchandise is available. This includes a book, a tote bag with a gorilla mask, banana-scented air fresheners, and other unique items related to woman artists.
Museum memberships can also be purchased as gifts or for personal enjoyment through Friends of the Chazen membership program. Benefits include discounts at the Chazen Café and access to exclusive events.
