There will be no trash or recycling collection by the Streets Division on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The drop-off sites and Streets Division offices will also be closed.

For those whose trash and recycling are usually collected on Mondays, it is advised to place carts at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Similarly, residents with Tuesday collections should have their carts ready for emptying by the same time on January 21. "If you set your carts out after 6:30 a.m. for their scheduled pickup, you may miss your collection opportunity," the Streets Division warns. In such cases, residents will need to wait until the next scheduled pickup day.

To avoid confusion regarding schedule changes due to the holiday, residents can obtain a free copy of their collection schedule by entering their address into a form available on the City of Madison's website at www.cityofmadison.com/Streets. Alternatively, they can request that a calendar for 2025 be mailed to their home.

Large item collection will begin on Tuesday, January 21 for residents who submitted work orders to set out items on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Additional details about large item collection and changes affecting properties with more than eight units can be found at www.cityofmadison.com/LargeItem.

The City of Madison drop-off sites will remain closed on Monday in observance of the holiday but will reopen for normal winter operating hours on Tuesday. Residents are encouraged to check the Streets Division’s website for locations and hours before bringing materials to a site. More information about all services offered by the Streets Division is available at www.cityofmadison.com/streets.
