Dr. Jan G. Chynoweth has been appointed as the new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD). With 27 years of experience in education, Dr. Chynoweth brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership skills to her new role.

Her career began as an early childhood and elementary Speech/Language Pathologist, providing her with insights into diverse learning needs and the importance of targeted interventions. This foundation led her to roles such as Special Education Coordinator and Associate Elementary Principal, where she focused on supporting students and educators while building strong relationships with families.

In her most recent position as Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment within MCPASD, Dr. Chynoweth led initiatives including the implementation of a new English Language Arts curriculum for grades 5-8, curriculum renewal in various subjects, and reviewing reading intervention programs. She also visited over 90 classrooms this year and participated in committees like the Artificial Intelligence and Portrait of a Graduate Work Group.

Previously, Dr. Chynoweth worked with Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) in several capacities, including overseeing special education services for middle schools as an Assistant Student Services Director. She was involved in professional learning across MMSD's Student Services department and served as a School Improvement Partner focusing on continuous improvement strategies at high schools.

Dr. Chynoweth expressed her commitment to collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based practices to enhance educational outcomes: "My commitment is to support educators, engage with families, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive."

As she transitions into her new role at MCPASD, Dr. Chynoweth looks forward to engaging with staff, students, families, and community members: "Together, I am confident we can build upon our strengths and address challenges to create an educational environment where all students can succeed."
