The Madison College District Board of Trustees has announced four finalists for the position of president, following the retirement of Jack E. Daniels III in January. The candidates include Dr. Jennifer Berne, Dr. Tim Casper, Dr. Dawn B. Crim, and Dr. Charles W. Lepper.
Dr. Jennifer Berne is currently the Provost at Oakland Community College in Michigan, where she works with faculty and community partners to enhance educational opportunities. Her career began as a community college faculty member and she has held various leadership roles in education institutions such as Northern Illinois University and Harper College.
Dr. Tim Casper has been serving as the Interim President of Madison College since January 2025. He joined the college in 2011 and has held multiple leadership positions including Executive Vice President of Student Affairs.
Dr. Dawn B. Crim is UW-Green Bay's Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Community Engagement, and Inclusivity, with a career spanning nearly three decades in Wisconsin's state government and higher education administration.
Dr. Charles W. Lepper is the President of Grand Rapids Community College and has extensive experience in student affairs and enrollment management at various colleges.
Candidate forums are scheduled for March where the finalists will engage with the community through events and visits to all Madison College campuses.
Donald Dantzler Jr., Chair of the Madison College District Board of Trustees, expressed confidence in the candidates: "The board is pleased with these exceptional candidates motivated to lead Madison College into the future." He emphasized that they seek a leader who can fulfill their mission of student success and workforce development.
The search process was restarted last October after a finalist withdrew from consideration. The new president is expected to assume office on July 1.
Madison College serves over 27,000 students across its campuses in Madison and regional locations within its 12-county district.
