The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) has released the academic calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. The calendar was finalized by a committee composed of district staff and representatives from Madison Teachers Inc., who met over several months to determine key dates.
The committee considered state laws, Department of Public Instruction regulations, Board of Education policies, employee handbook provisions, religious holidays, and input from staff and families. These factors influence decisions on school start dates, contracted workdays, conferences, and Professional Development days.
Additionally, the committee addressed professional learning needs for school staff, allocated time for data analysis, and set aside periods to implement each school's School Improvement Plan. They also consulted with advisory groups about preferences regarding breaks' length and scheduling conferences.
"We are appreciative of the hard work of all who had a hand in finalizing next year's calendar," stated an MMSD representative. The district also expressed gratitude for "the patience of all MMSD families and staff as that work has taken place."
The newly released calendar is now available for viewing by interested parties.
