Rep. Mark Pocan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Wisconsin’s 2nd district, has recently expressed concerns over proposed changes to Social Security and Medicaid in a series of tweets. Pocan, who has been serving since 2013 after succeeding Tammy Baldwin, highlighted these issues on March 11, 2025.

In his first tweet posted at 14:33 UTC, Pocan questioned claims made by Elon Musk regarding federal spending. He referenced a statement from Musk to Fox Business Network: "Most of the federal spending is entitlements," said Musk. "That’s the big one to eliminate."

Later that day at 16:52 UTC, Pocan commented on the House Republicans' budget bill process, stating that it was not feasible without impacting Medicaid services. He noted that "Medicaid serves more than 1 million Wisconsinites."

At 17:01 UTC, Pocan announced his support for new legislative measures aimed at protecting Social Security from potential changes advocated by former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. In his tweet, he mentioned his excitement to co-sponsor bills that would prevent the closure of Social Security field offices and safeguard against certain violations affecting seniors: "I am excited to co-sponsor two new bills that would protect Social Security from Trump and Musk!"
