Today marks the last opportunity for Wisconsin residents to register to vote online or by mail ahead of the upcoming Spring Election on April 1. The Madison City Clerk’s Office is urging voters to verify their registration status through MyVote WI, especially those who have recently moved, even within the same building.
Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway emphasized the importance of voter participation: “Make sure you’re all set for Election Day by registering to vote before the deadline,” she stated. “In Madison, we don’t care who you vote for — we just want to ensure every eligible voter is able to cast a ballot. Your participation is essential to ensuring the health of our democracy.”
Voter registration will also be available at absentee voting sites from Tuesday, March 18, through Friday, March 28, and at polling stations on Election Day itself. Registrants are required to provide proof of address, which can be submitted electronically. Acceptable documents include utility bills issued in the past 90 days, bank statements, current and valid Wisconsin driver licenses or IDs, government documents from various levels and institutions, paychecks, residential leases effective on the day of registration (except when registering by mail), certified housing lists from UW-Madison or Edgewood College accompanied by college ID cards, affidavits from social service agencies assisting homeless individuals, and contracts or intake documents from nursing homes or residential care facilities.
The City Clerk’s Office aims to ensure that every eligible voter can participate in the election process and have their votes counted.
