Madison Parks is calling for volunteers to join its largest cleanup project on Saturday, April 26. The initiative, known as the Earth Day Challenge, invites residents and neighbors to participate by registering in advance on a new volunteer website.
For almost three decades, Madison Parks has celebrated Earth Day by enlisting volunteers for various tasks such as trash pickup, light raking, weeding, and removing sticks. Volunteers will be provided with gloves and trash bags at all designated parks. Depending on the number of registered participants, some locations may also offer trash-pickers, rakes, or other small tools.
The event is scheduled from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm across more than 60 parks throughout the city. Participants are encouraged to review the list of participating parks to choose where they would like to volunteer.
Registration is mandatory for those aged 14 years or older. On the day of the event, volunteers should head to their chosen park between 10 am and 12 pm and look for the Earth Day Challenge sign and supplies.
