One of the initial days of April 2025 brought a mixture of rain and sunshine to the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus, signaling the arrival of spring. Students took advantage of the sunny intervals, leaving their coats behind, while early flora began to emerge from their winter concealments. The campus anticipates a vibrant display of flowers in May.

A photograph captured by Jeff Miller shows two students pausing for a conversation as pedestrians move along East Campus Mall. In another image, tulip leaves are seen pushing through the soil, signaling the awakening of plant bulbs from winter dormancy at the base of the Carillon Tower.

A rain-soaked, scarlet crosswalk on East Campus Mall is the setting for another image, where pedestrians and students traverse University Avenue. Delicate flowers on a magnolia tree near the Educational Sciences Building endure an early spring shower, as depicted in yet another of Miller's photographs.
