Recycling fees apply to some large items and appliances. If the City of Madison collects your recycling, you are exempt from additional charges due to the Resource Recovery Special Charge already covered in your Municipal Services bill. However, if the city does not collect your recycling, a recycling charge is applicable. Residents can verify collection services based on the type of containers used.

Residents can purchase recycling fee stickers online at www.cityofmadison.com/LargeItemWorkOrder, in person at Streets Division offices, or via phone. The offices are at 1501 W. Badger Rd and 4602 Sycamore Ave, open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. For phone purchases, contact 608-246-4532 or 608-266-4681 during office hours.

Payments can also be mailed to City of Madison Streets Division, 1501 W. Badger Rd, Madison, WI 53713. Checks should be made payable to City Treasurer, with an accompanying note describing the purchase.

Workers at the drop-off sites are unable to sell fee stickers. If an item requires a recycling fee sticker, it must be purchased before visiting the site. Details about items requiring fees and eligible parties are on the large item collection website at www.cityofmadison.com/LargeItem.
