The Madison College Annual Spring Pow Wow is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at the Truax Campus. This event is set to gather singers and dancers from various tribal nations across Wisconsin, emphasizing cultural unity and tradition.
The event features several invited drummers, including the Host Drum, Little Bear, and Invited Drums such as Bearheart, Little Priest Singers, 2nd Island, Tomahawk Circle, and Twin Tails. Dancers will participate in contests like all men’s and women’s dance, appliqué special, singer championship, potato dance, and bells only.
A color guard presentation by Sanford WhiteEagle Legion Post 556 will honor the community's military service. Madison College's Native American Student Association (NASA), together with the Intercultural Exchange and the Division of College, Culture and Climate, is organizing the event.
This celebration aims to enhance cultural understanding and inclusivity. The afternoon session begins at 1 p.m., followed by an evening session at 6:30 p.m. The event is free, open to the public, and invites individuals from all backgrounds to participate.
