The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District has announced that Carmen Klassy will become the new principal of Glacier Creek Middle School. Klassy's appointment begins on July 1, 2025.
Previously, Klassy has served as an Associate Principal at Middleton High School since 2019, overseeing departments including Fine Arts, English, World Language, and Bilingual Resources. Before her tenure at Middleton, she was the principal of Oakfield Middle/High School in Oakfield, Wisconsin for five years.
Klassy is succeeding Ken Metz, who will transition to the role of the District’s Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
MCPASD Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue praised Klassy's work at Middleton High School: “We’re beyond grateful for Carmen’s leadership at Middleton High School, and I’m delighted that Glacier Creek Middle School students, families and staff will now benefit from Carmen’s leadership, compassion and expertise.” Monogue highlighted Klassy’s contribution to multilingual learners at Middleton High School, noting, “Carmen’s well known for her work with Middleton High School’s multilingual learners, and she made it her mission to lift their voices. We’re excited to see Carmen share her passion for education with our middle school learners.”
Klassy expressed enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “Working with students is where I thrive. The role of principal is meaningful to me because it allows me to have a great impact on the development of all students." She stressed her commitment to learning alongside teachers and empowering them, as well as spending time with students. At Middleton High School, she engaged closely with students through activities like partnering with a teacher for advisory and advising the Seal of Biliteracy program.
