The newly elected members, all from the College of Letters & Science in the category of social and behavioral sciences, are Harry Brighouse, Patricia Devine, Lisa Martin, and Mark Seidenberg.
The election celebrates the scholars' contributions in their respective fields. They join nearly 250 other new members across various sectors including academia, industry, policy, and science.
“These new members’ accomplishments speak volumes about the human capacity for discovery, creativity, leadership and persistence,” says Academy President Laurie L. Patton. “They are a stellar testament to the power of knowledge to broaden our horizons and deepen our understanding.”
Harry Brighouse holds the titles of Mildred Fish Harnack Professor of Philosophy of Education and Carol Dickson Bascom Professor of the Humanities within the Department of Philosophy. He is affiliated with educational policy studies and directs the university's Center for Ethics and Education.
