Middleton High School has announced that three of its seniors, Annika Batt, Ben Dyar, and Jonathan Schecher, have been awarded college-sponsored Merit Scholarships. This achievement places Middleton High School at the top among 120 Wisconsin high schools with Semifinalists this year.

The winners were selected from a pool of over 15,000 Finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Each state's winners were evaluated based on their accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in challenging college studies.

"Annika, Ben and Jonathan are exceptionally strong students, and we’re excited for them to earn national recognition for their academic achievements," stated Middleton High School Principal Peg Shoemaker. "As they prepare for their post-high school academic journey, we’re excited to watch them continue to achieve academic excellence in college and beyond."

A committee consisting of college admissions officers and high school counselors chose the scholarship recipients. They reviewed various criteria including academic records, PSAT/NMSQT scores, contributions to school and community activities, essays written by the Finalists, and recommendations from high school officials.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation organizes this annual competition to recognize scholastic talent across the nation and encourage students to maximize their abilities.

In addition to these three winners of college-sponsored scholarships, Middleton High School also had four students who received national Merit $2,500 Scholarships earlier this year: Ray Feinberg, Akshay Manna, Abhi Mundas, and Raghvi Sethi.
