MCPASD has reiterated its dedication to fostering an inclusive environment by celebrating Pride Month in June. The district emphasized the importance of supporting the LGBTQ+ community and uplifting student voices.

On June 5, district leaders, along with staff members and students from Kromrey Middle School's Allies Club, gathered to raise the Pride flag at the District Services Center. Eighth grader Rowan expressed that symbols like the Pride flag contribute to a sense of support for LGBTQ+ individuals.

"It gives us a sense of pride and a little more strength," Rowan said. "It's important that we can get recognized and be celebrated just like everyone else."

Students highlighted that clubs such as Allies offer a safe space to discuss significant topics in an engaging manner while enjoying time with friends. They noted that educating about the LGBTQ+ community and asking for preferred names and pronouns are crucial steps towards enhancing inclusivity.

"From what I've experienced, it's mostly just using the right pronouns and names," said eighth grader Benjamin. Rowan concurred: "A lot of people are uncomfortable or just not educated about using different pronouns or flags, stuff like that."
