Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman has commented on the recently approved budget agreement by the Joint Finance Committee. In his statement, Rothman highlighted the significance of this development for the Universities of Wisconsin and their students.

"The Universities of Wisconsin, in every part of our state and home to over 164,000 students, are among Wisconsin’s most valuable assets," said Rothman. He acknowledged Governor Evers as a strong supporter of the universities and appreciated the legislature's recognition of their importance in fostering a promising future for residents.

Rothman noted that "today’s budget agreement marks the largest overall increase in investment in the UWs in over two decades." He emphasized that Wisconsinites have long invested in these institutions to ensure affordable and accessible higher education. According to him, these new investments will enable the universities to enhance educational opportunities for students.

The statement reflects optimism about what can be achieved with increased funding and reiterates gratitude towards both government support and community pride in Wisconsin's educational infrastructure.
