Madison College has sold two parcels of land to Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha and Jefferson Counties. The land, located across from the college's Watertown campus, will be developed into homes for 12 families. The sale was finalized last week following a request for proposals process, with approval from the City of Watertown.
This project marks the first Habitat initiative in Watertown. Habitat for Humanity plans to build six twin homes on the site, with construction set to begin this fall. Families are expected to move into their new homes next year.
Sylvia Ramirez, Madison College's Executive Vice President of Finance & Administration, expressed satisfaction with the transaction. "We are pleased that Habitat for Humanity was able to purchase the land and support access to affordable housing," she said. Ramirez emphasized Madison College's commitment to fostering strong communities and looked forward to the success of future homeowners.
A celebration event is scheduled for June 2026 at Madison College’s Watertown campus.
Melissa Songco, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County, highlighted the significance of partnering with Madison College. “We’re honored to partner with such an important institution like Madison College to bring Habitat’s mission to Watertown,” she stated. Songco noted that this project provides much-needed affordable housing and contributes toward building a stronger community.
Further details about the project can be found on the Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha and Jefferson Counties website.
