State Senator Kelda Roys and Representative Brienne Brown have introduced legislation aimed at preventing price collusion by landlords in Wisconsin. The proposed law seeks to prohibit tech-enabled price-fixing schemes that utilize software to suggest optimal pricing strategies for maximizing profits.

Senator Roys highlighted the increasing difficulty in finding affordable housing across Wisconsin, stating: "No matter where you are in Wisconsin, affordable housing is becoming harder to find." She emphasized that rising housing costs are negatively impacting the economy and contributing to homelessness.

Representative Brown echoed these concerns, noting the ongoing crisis in housing availability and affordability since the pandemic. She stated: "Rents have skyrocketed since the pandemic and the problem is not getting any better."

The legislators are seeking co-sponsorship for this bill as a measure to address these issues and prevent further exploitation of renters.
